    Cochise Education Foundation Grant Winner

    Congratulations to Kelly Zamudio, recipient of the Cochise Education Foundation Grant recipient. $200 winner!

    Eighth Grade Promotion

    Eighth grade promotion will take place on Thursday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. in front of the A.R. Spikes High School building. Congratulations to James Conger, Melody Murray, Dominick Marquez, Ayana Rivas, and Corban Salivar! Please see our eighth grade promotion flyer for more information.

    High School Graduation Program

    High school graduation is May 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in front of the high school. Below you will find the program for this happy occasion.

    Graduation Day

    Graduation day will be held outside of the high school building on May 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. Eighth grade promotion will be in front of the high school also on May 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

    FFA News from Ms. Kelly Zamudio, Bowie High School Teacher

    Ms. Zamudio had four teams and one individual compete in the state FFA career development events competition virtually.

    Placings:

    • Meats Evaluation Team - 11th place
    • Dairy Foods Evaluations Team - 11th place
    • Livestock Evaluation Team - 11th place
    • Agriculture Mechanics Team Had Two Participants and Placed In the Top 20

    Many students did two contest areas and are looking forward to next year! Raven Morrison was nominated to be on the FFA state officer team selection committee at the state leadership conference in June. Eight students will go to Willcox on April 23 for a workshop on the "Anatomy of a Cow Eye," sponsored by the Arizona Science Center.

    Cochise County Fair Participants:

    • Bowie High will have two market swine, three beef builder projects provided by the dairy, one carcass lamb, and one market goat

    Raven Morrison will be attending McPeak’s Be a Champ Camp in Oklahoma this summer 2021. Students showing animals at Cochise County Fair will do the show circuit from June through September 2021.

    Welcome Daniel Erickson!
    Bowie USD Names new superintendent Dan Erickson

    Join us in welcoming Daniel Erickson, who will be starting in July of 2021! Mr. Erickson is a passionate servant leader who believes that relationships are at the heart of all that we do in education. With honor and humility he will join the Bowie Unified School District team. He and wife, Michele, are now married for 20 years and have two children. Dominic attends the University of Arizona and Jessica attends Tanque Verde High School.

    Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

    The FCC has just released more information on the Emergency Broadband Benefit program in the form of frequently asked questions and answers. This program will pay for home internet and devices for low-income families.

    Health News for Parents and Students in Grades 3–5

    We have a student who may have had, or been in contact with, another child who may have had, or been in contact with a child who may have had Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease. We contacted the Cochise County Health Department and invite you to read our letter below, which outlines their recommendations for this illness.
